A quick introduction to me, my name is Dan and I'm a print and web designer based in Aylesbury. I have been working as a designer for about 10 years now initially as graphic designer before embracing the internet and becoming a web designer as well. In the past I have worked for a wide variety of clients from as large as Kodak, Tefal and Toshiba down to small one man bands and pretty much everything in between. For more about my career history please feel free to have a look at my CV and Portfolio.

As promised I just wanted to explain why this site is not supporting IE6. The main reason is that on this site I wanted design without the constraints that IE6 imposes, as a designer I don't like to be told I can and can't do by a web browser. However I do appreciate that I can't just forget about older browsers. When designing a site for a client they are more interested in communicating their message than having a graduated transparency behind their phone number and rightly so. About 15% of web users are still using IE6 at the time of publishing this post (see www.w3schools.com for more up to date details) and potentially that is a lot of lost custom if users cant access content properly. So there always needs to be a compromise between design and content as neither would work on its own. On this site I have taken that the view that as the design is what I am trying to communicate a little less emphasis can be put on the content and that I can spend some time adding in amended CSS at a later date.
So those are the reasons that some people might not be seeing this site quite right if they haven't upgraded to a newer version of IE or better still Firefox. For now I will just have to hope that it's not long until everybody is using a nice shiny new web browser!
